Toby Butterfield is an experienced litigator who handles intellectual property, copyright, trademark, digital media and general commercial cases in federal and state courts.  He also counsels clients on various non-litigated matters. He chaired the Committee on State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and was a member of the Community Advisory Board of WNYC, New York's Public Radio station.

Graduate of Oxford University, 1988 (B.A. Hons.), the Inns of Court School of Law in London, 1989, and New York University School of Law, 1990 (LL.M. International).
After several years litigating domestic and international issues at Sullivan & Cromwell, joined Kay Collyer & Boose LLP in 1994, became a partner there in 2000, and joined this firm as a partner in 2003.
Admitted as a barrister in England in 1989 (although he does not practice English law).
Admitted in New York in 1991.
Admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Second and Fifth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
Clients include organizations and corporations with contractual and litigation issues to resolve, businesses, organizations and individuals with copyright and trademark disputes, and those seeking sophisticated counselling in the media, entertainment, merchandise and other industries.
Regular speaker on television format rights at television industry events such as the Banff World Television Festival, the Rose D'Or Festival, Lucerne, Switzerland, and the Copyright Working Group of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasters Union.
Annually moderates N.Y.U. School of Law lawyering exercises.
Chaired New York City Bar Association Committee on State Cours of Superior Jurisdiction. Member, Entertainment Law Committee.
Administrator of Judicial Screening Panel for 2005 New York State Supreme Court candidates for Democratic Party.
Member of the international committee of the American Bar Association's anti-trust section and has written for the ABA on developments in international anti-trust law. He is also a member of the ABA's International Section.
